Mitch

Mitch just shook his head at his father. He couldn’t believe they were even having this conversation.

“No, I wouldn’t do that. I believe in what I do here. I don’t break the law.”

His father snorted. “You just hang out in kink clubs and let other men touch you.”

Mitch narrowed his eyes. What did his father know? His father had always ignored the fact that Mitch was gay. “My personal life is my own. I’m not hurting anyone. I’m not breaking the law.” Unlike his father. Hell, his father was just as much of a criminal as the clients they served.

His father shook his head. “You’ve always been weak and naïve. But if I find out that you betrayed me? You’ll be sorry. I know people.”

“Yes father,” Mitch responded. “You know bad people. Which I’ve tried to make excuses for. I won’t do it any longer. If you pissed off the wrong person maybe it will be you that’s sorry.”

His father stalked toward him. But Mitch wasn’t afraid. His father used words to hurt Mitch, but he was a coward. He didn’t like to get his own hands dirty.

“I’ll destroy you and all your sick friends if something happens to me. I’ll make sure that the men you hang around will lose everything they’ve worked for.”

Mitch shrugged. He was beyond his father’s threats. “Check the logs. I haven’t been in your personal files. I haven’t been in your office. I have no reason to. I no longer care what you get up to.”

“You just better keep out of my business.” With that, his father stomped from Mitch’s office.

With a sigh, Mitch sat back behind his desk. He hadn’t lied. He hadn’t been in his father’s file. But if someone was messing around in his father’s business Mitch had a good idea who it was. He wasn’t warning his father though and that made him sick to his stomach. It was time his father faced the consequences of his actions though. Maybe his father might learn a lesson.

Mitch tried to get back to work on the file he’d been updating but his concentration was shattered. He glanced at his watch not surprised to find it was past seven. He was surprised he hadn’t heard from Byron though.

He opened his top drawer where he’d stuck his phone. He picked it up.

Dead.

Damn it, what was wrong with the stupid thing now? Mitch tried to power it on but nothing. He could charge it there but it was past time for him to head home anyway. He just wanted to go back to his condo, put on a pull-up, and talk to his Daddy on the phone.

Hell, he really wanted to drive out to Byron’s house but he had a meeting early the next morning.

Mitch rose and put his files into his desk before locking them up. He went around the office closing down what he needed to before grabbing his suit jacket from the back of his chair.

He walked out of the office without saying a word to anyone.
